Cat Run Over by 90 Trains Lives |
|
February 6, 2001 West Yorkshire,UK Editor's note: Ok, this is not a real dog story, but it is rather incredible. And I thought they were only supposed to have nine lives. This fortunate feline, whose paws were stuck on the rails of the Hebden Bridge rail line, managed to dodge as many as 90 hi-speed trains over an estimated two day period. A dog and his owner were walking along the line when they discovered the terrified, black and white tomcat huddled up against the track. The railway authorities were alerted, and the rail line was shut down while the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) effected a rescue. |
Amanda Ashton of the RSPCA was among the first to arrive on the scene. Said Ms. Ashton, "He's amazing. He must have been there for at least two days. I thought he was dead when I got to him, but then he opened his eyes." His back leg had been severed by the wheels of one train, but after surgery, the cat was reported to be doing fine. His owners have not been located. §§§ |
