Dog Saves Drew Barrymore's Life

It took sixty firefighters an hour to control the blaze that demolished the home of actress Drew Barrymore and her fiancé, comedian Tom Green.  But the two escaped unharmed thanks to Flossie.

Flossie, their trusty yellow lab/chow, woke them up at about 3:30 am with her barking and frantic clawing. "She literally banged on the bedroom door", said Ms. Barrymore's spokesman.

Flossie herself had been rescued by Ms. Barrymore two years ago, when actress and stray dog met on the streets of Los Angeles.

Investigators do not know what caused the fire.  The flames spread quickly through the 2-story house north of Beverly Hills reducing it to ashes.  But Ms. Barrymore shakily reassured reporters on the scene, "We're great."
