Excuse Me, Sir—Your Dog is Ringing |
March 9, 2001 Mombasa, Kenya Kamal Shah, a Kenyan businessman, had been having trouble locating his mobile phone. Most likely, he thought, his toddler son had moved it from the bedside; it had to be somewhere close by. So Mr. Shah decided to use his home phone to dial the mobile number, hoping to track down exactly where in the house it lay—perhaps under some furniture or between some cushions. There came a strange ringing noise from Snoopy, his two-year-old German Shepherd.

Mr. Shah explains, "Snoopy had swallowed it; it rang from inside him, sending me into a shock." Yesterday the hungry dog underwent surgery to have the device removed from his stomach. Both dog and phone are reported to be in perfect working order. §§§ |
