Ex-Shelter Dogs Strut Their Stuff in Hawaii

April 4, 2001 Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

Oh, doggie-denim is definitely in.

A slightly unconventional fashion show will take place on Saturday, April 7 at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel's Monarch Room in Honolulu.

But where else can you see the latest avant-garde fashions, such as sweaters-with-no-pants and four-legged tie dyes?

What's more: these aren't the usual fancybred show dogs taking the runway.  This year's trend is for models that represent the common, everyday canine.  In fact, all of the celebrities on stage this year are ex-shelter dogs, saved from near-death situations, rehabilitated and re-homed by the Hawaiian Humane Society.

Sponsored by Purr-fect Paws Boutique, the Humane Society's Annual Spring Fundraiser will begin at 6:00pm; tickets are $150 per person (I suppose dogs are admitted free) and can be obtained by calling 808-946-2187 ext. 213.

The evening will feature a fashion show, a benefit auction, cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Did I hear someone suggest 'The Foxtrot'?
