Dog Plummets 150ft. and Walks Away |
April 17, 2001 Eastbourne, UK "It's a bird!" "It's a plane!" "It's... a dog?" It is unclear as to why "Boston" the Springer Spaniel decided to leap over a 150-foot cliff in Eastbourne, UK. Perhaps it's peer-pressure. Those crazy Brit-hounds have been hurling themselves over precarious precipices all year: first there was Bruiser (200ft.); next was Ollie (60ft.); and now Boston (150ft.); and of course, an honorable mention goes to Maggie May (50ft.) who has introduced the fad on the American side. Editor's note: I've heard of "raining cats and dogs", but this is ridiculous. Regardless of motive, they all managed to walk away with injuries no worse than a few scrapes and bruises. In the latest case, Boston had a bloodshot eye.

Boston's 55-year-old owner Roger Lucking recounts, "I thought there was no way he could survive." A man on the beach below climbed up to rescue the pet, who had apparently made a soft-landing just a few feet above jagged rocks. Puppies, don't try this at home. §§§
