SAN JOSE, CA — The dog-trial of the century opened this week in the case of Leo, a road-rage victim who was allegedly thrown into traffic by Andrew Burnett, 27. Editor's note: If you've just come out of a coma and don't know what we're talking about, please prepare yourself and then read the April 13 article. You might want to ask someone about that O.J. thing, too. Employing a rather puzzling strategy, the accused man's attorney Marc Garcia denied yesterday that his client killed the dog in a Feb. 11, 2000 act of road-rage. He then indicated that Leo, the 5-pound Bichon Frisé had bitten his client. Lastly he added that his client had no idea that the dog would be struck by several cars (reports the Chicago Tribune). The Scoop reporters believe that Mr. Garcia is deftly weaving the Jedi Mind Trick. A witness for the prosecution identified Burnett as the man who emerged from the black SUV "flailing his arms, yelling and stuff." §§§ |
