ANFIELD, LIVERPOOL (UK) — It must be embarrassing when your dog
visits your husband in the hospital an hour before you do.
As a matter of fact, "Scamp",
the six-year-old pooch from Anfield, almost beat the
ambulance that was carrying Harry Scanlan to the Royal Liverpool
Hospital after the man had suffered a severe asthma attack.
The ambulance arrived at the hospital
in four minutes; Scamp took five. But hey, he didn't have one of
those flashing sirens strapped to his head, helping him through
Liverpool traffic.
After being notified of the emergency,
Marie Scanlan rushed home. The Daily Mail quotes her:
"I rushed home when I found out Harry was in the hospital. Scamp
was missing but I didn't think too much of it and rushed to the hospital
to see Harry.
"When I got to his bedside one of
the staff came over and asked if we had lost our dog. We were astounded—Scamp
was sat outside waiting for Harry to come out."
It is believed that Scamp had escaped
from the yard and had run close
to two miles behind the ambulance. Outside the hospital, the dog
was spotted, tired and limping, by a police officer who found Mr.
Scanlan's name on Scamp's ID collar and learned that Mr. Scanlan had
just been admitted. |

Dramatization.
After being reunited with the Scanlans,
Scamp was reassured that Harry was going to be fine. Mr. Scanlan
spent two days at the hospital but has since returned back home to
recover.
Scamp's next trick? Learning how
to call a cab.
