Runaway Dog Escaped by Rolling Down Car Window (Humans, this is just the beginning...)

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (USA) — Scenario: You're cruising down Santa Monica Boulevard with your favorite pooch in the back seat.

The pooch notices a particularly stylish fire hydrant and motions for you to pull over.  But you're late for a hair appointment with Sėrge, so you tell poochie that you'll stop on the way back.

The next thing you know, your mutt mutters something unintelligible (and probably not very complimentary), rolls down the window and leaps out of the car.

to World Domination

Weird?

Well, it's not quite as preposterous as you'd think (that is, except for the fact that it's absolutely impossible to get a hair appointment with Sėrge on a Wednesday).

The LA Times reports that Karen Sortito of Hollywood was driving along Little Santa Monica Boulevard last Friday morning when one of her Shiba Inu dogs "Carmella" hit the power window button in the back seat, rolled down the window and jumped into traffic.

At first, Ms. Sortito continued driving, oblivious to what had just happened.  But then another motorist caught her attention by waving frantically.

"I thought she was telling me what a beautiful day it was," said Ms. Sortito.  "But then I noticed she was screaming, 'Your dog! Your dog!' "

The other motorist further shocked Ms. Sortito by jumping out of her own car and running into traffic to save the renegade pooch.  Miraculously, this good Samaritan was able to gather up Carmella and bring her back without any injuries.  Then the unidentified hero got back into her car and vanished without so much as a bow.  Or a bow-wow.

"I didn't even get this wonderful person's name," Ms. Sortito told reporters.  "I was yelling, 'Thank you!  Thank you!  Bad dog! Bad dog!'  But it's just nice to know there are people out there like her."
