OAKLAND, CA (USA) — Any dog who's been starved, beaten
and burned—and who subsequently makes a miraculous comeback to
embrace a happy, new life—deserves a picture gallery in DogsInTheNews.com!
At only three months old, "Theo" the pit bull puppy
became the victim of one of the worst cases of dog-fight cruelty in
the United States (click
here to read the January article).
But the spirit of this little trooper during his tough recovery
touched the hearts of people everywhere. Whether he knows it or
not, tiny Theo brought out the best in humans: from the dedicated
shelter volunteers nursing him back to health to the impassioned
citizens rallying the government to combat dog-fighting (see "Mayor
Pledges to Crack Down on Dog-Fights").
At long last, the fight comes back full circle to our hero Theo
with the kind individuals who have given him a new home and a chance
to wag his tail (now that the fur has finally grown back).
