BATON ROUGE, LA (USA) — Maybe
this guy can get a reduced sentence by pleading "temporary
stupidity." Terell Joseph Green, 20, has been arrested and charged with several crimes after
allegedly holding up a pizza delivery driver with a crowbar,
stealing a woman's
purse, leading police on a highway chase, crashing his car and—here's
the clincher—throwing his 1˝-year-old son at a police dog while
trying to escape on foot Friday night.
Baton Rouge Police K-9 "Rebel" did not harm the toddler
and quickly proceeded to bring down the suspect, said police
spokesperson Cpl. Don Kelly. Green was treated for bites and
injuries at the Earl K. Long Medical Center before being jailed with
bond set at $125,000. The boy received a small cut on his lip
from hitting the ground.
Cpl. Chris Polito, the dog's handler, said he released Rebel as
the suspect was attempting to flee on foot with the child up the
Mississippi River levee. When Green saw the dog gaining
on him, he threw his child, the police report states.
Officer Polito spotted the toddler and ordered his canine partner
to chase the man, whom Rebel captured a short distance away.

The
Advocate reported yesterday that Green, who lives at 5510 Morris
St., Carville, was booked into Parish Prison with two counts of armed
robbery and with cruelty to a juvenile. The boy's mother was on hand
to take the child to the hospital for a full exam.

"Catching crooks is just too easy these days. I need a
challenge."
A well-trained K-9 can handle any complicated situation, as demonstrated
by this deputy dog. I bet you didn't know that they could parallel
park, too.
