December 15, 2002 CAT BURGLAR RULE #1:
When Breaking Into Someone's House, Make Sure Your Dog Doesn't
Follow You, or This Might Happen...
|
 |
|
WEST YORKS (UK) — Here's
a case of a cat burglar whose dog is a dirty rat. After
breaking into a home in Dewsbury, a burglar escaped through a window
when he heard the homeowners returning. He might have gotten away, had he
not left his dog "Roxy" behind.
|

"@&#$!! Next time, you just drive the getaway
car!"
A thief's mutt led police right back to the hideout in Dewsbury.
|
|
|
The homeowners, Rita and Derek Lewis, found the abandoned mutt,
put a leash on her and took her for a little walk. Roxy then led the couple
straight to the home of 21-year-old Steven Wilson, about 200 yards
away.
|
Mr. Lewis, 70, comments, "He should have left the dog at
home—it wasn’t his best friend that night." Though
slightly rattled by the incident, the
couple seems to have been more amused than threatened by the
attempted burglary.
|
|

"We have ways of making you talk.
OK, Jenkins, bring out the dog biscuits!"
In this dramatic re-creation, the role of "Roxy" is
played by "Albert Collins", a 7-year-old Greyhound available
for adoption from the Thornberry
Animal Sanctuary in Sheffield, UK. Click on Albert for

On Wednesday, The
Sun reported that Wilson was jailed for 21 months at
Bradford Crown Court.
