"Do dogs have souls?"

Wow, I never knew that Orthodox Jews believe in reincarnation. I guess you learn something new every day :) But my main question is, does anyone know WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DOG??

I've been trying to figure that out too. All the Jerusalem municipality websites are in Hebrew (imagine that). Great story though.

I emailed Jerusalem municipality and got this reply:

> hello to you sir
> for this information you can call to the Veterinary Services
> 5816576
> Tank you for your calling
> Moked

Anyone feel like giving them a ring?

Dogs definitely have souls, no two ways about it. I don't care what any church or religious group says, I know for a fact that dogs have souls. Here's the proof for my point; any creature capable of overcoming its built-in programming (instincts) and acting against its own survival in an act of heroic self-sacrifice, must therefore possess a soul. If it were truly "just an animal" it could not, and would not be able to, defeat its in-born programmed "hard-wired" instincts, and thus would always fight to save itself instead of bravely sacrificing its life to save other animals and humans. There are countless examples of dogs who were not trained as rescue animals, yet who gladly gave up their own lives to save others, and that capacity for self-sacrifice is absolute proof of the presence of a soul.

The dogs spirit is connected to god it is like an angel. A part of Gods soul is inside of the dog. When it dies it returns to who created it for further instruction. God is love love is inside the pet love never dies it is immortal and it remembers all love given and received.

DOG is GOD spelled backwards...coincidence?
There is a wonderful book called "The Souls of Animals" by Gary Kowalski that is very enlightening.

Does it really matter what Christianity says? Religion is a joke. Take it from an atheist and former Christian. This is just one of the things that makes it obvious(other than science and rational thinking) that the bible was written by biased people. I love my dog. Anyone with half a brain sees that dogs are very intelligent. They're not the mindless creatures the bible portrays them to be.

i believe our beloved pets have souls to like us. coz they can interact with humans. it's so sad when they leave us, i think god created dogs to be our loyal companion despite we treated them very badly, despite of that, they are still loyal to us, until the end. i hope spirit questors can also see the spirits of our beloved pets.

Interesting question. In practice(owning a dog) I know that they certainly have feelings. And personality =). I have a Christian worldview that I don't believe offers much to settle the question.

do dogs have souls i am going to give you guys the answer you've been waiting for. Yes they do. Let me tell you a little story. I had a dog for 16 years he had hart desease and then he got cancer I put him on keamotheripy he lasted about a year on it then his hart gave and he died. and I wondered just like you guys out there are wondering now,did he have a soul can I get it back down from were it went. that when I found out about ASTRAL PROJECTION. look it up astral projection techneques. once you get out of your body call your dogs name and he will be right there. he is in the house with you, you just cant see his astral body.

I am a born Christian, yet I totally agree with Gary L. Dogs do have souls.
I don't care what christianity says about souls in dogs. I believe that God would not neglect His own creation that becomes men's best friends.
Just take a look into dogs eyes. You will see love, selflessness, hope, joy, sadness, everything you can see in human eyes.
So my final conclusion is this, if humans have soul, then dogs do.
If they (christians whoever vehemently stated) say that dogs don't have souls, then
humans definitely don't have any.

I had to have my dear sweet dog put to sleep today , she was suffering from kidney failure . As I held her in my arms as she slipped away i have to believe that we will see each other again . I can see no loving God splitting us permanetly from our dog soul mates .Reading the messages has been a great help on such a sad day.

Kelly, I'm sure you will. Dogs have souls, no question about it. I also believe that if you are there at the moment of the soul's passing, part of it will go into you. I think your dog is already a part of you.

I was not there when my dog died. It tears me up to think that her soul may not be able to find me.

Chris , Thank's for your kind message that you posted on the forum . You should try not to beat yourself up over the fact that you were not presnet when your dog moved on . I am sure that our dogs bonds with  us are so strong that they come and  find us the  instant that they pass over . God bless

Do dogs have soals. I wrote in a letter to you guys before telling you how you can bring down the dogs soul. its called astral projection and the book I lurned from is called astral projection for beginners by edain mccoy. The techneque I used was symbolic gateway, just stair through the symbol like trying to see something on the other side the symbol that worked for me was the circle make it big to hang on the wall, stair for twenty minutes from about 3 to 4 feetaway till the symbol turns  purple then go rite to sleep. before you do all this buy the book and read up on it, it will be much easier.

My German Shepherd was euthanized last Wednesday due to Degenerative Myelopathy, which left her paralized from the waist down.  She was the joy and love of my life.  Yes, she did have a soul and souls have a spirit, she knew how I felt before I felt it.  God, takes all of his magnificient creations back when life is ended.  If I did not believe this, I would feel somewhat defeated.   Euthanizing my wonderful dog was not plesant, nor did she fall into my arms sleeping.  I do believe it was painful to her and That I did not count on. I truly regret euthanizing her.

I just lost my minature schnauzer yesterday.I was absolutely crazy about her.  She was hit by a car.  She was in a kennel but got out.  I feel so guilty.  I hope more than anything in the world she knows how much I loveher, and that she has a soul.  I have lost 3 dogs within 3 months. One I had to put down because of age, one someone shot, and now Zoey. If there is an afterlife, and if my dogs are not there, forget about it I am not going.

My dog Snapple is getting very old, and my parents think she should be put to sleep. But I think she still wants to live. She's just a bit slower than she used to be. She has a soul. And it's not ready to move on just yet.

I really believe dogs have souls. My bulterrier past away 2 days back and she was always there for me. She died from Catflue and she looked deep in my eyes. I will never forget her.  We really bonded. I could see the pain in her eyes, just like you can see pain, or happiness in a humans eyes. Minky I will never forget you and you will always stay in our thoughts.

I find it painful and disturbing that there are those who speak horrible of God and have said some really disturbing things.

The very simple fact is that God breathes life into all of his creatures, Man and animal alike, God only gave man guardianship and made him the ruler.

So therefore they must have a soul if God breathes in them the breathe of life, no one else has that authority.
