hi. my daughter's 1 year old 8 lb. chihuahua just had her first litter. dad is about 6 lbs (also chi). she just had 7 puppies. not small, like i'd read they'd be, but roughly 6" long! she was huge, and her litter is much larger than our research led us to believe it would be. anything surprising? am i just ill informed? |

7? That's quite a load of burritoes! To answer your question, you're right; it's very unusual for a Chihuahua to have such a large litter.
In 2001, ABC reported that the world's record was set by "Cricket" who had 6 puppies. A few days later, reports came in that "Sassy" had 7. But the final honor went to "Lucky" in Cicero, Illinois who had 10 pups in November 2002.
